Samsung announces the Galaxy S20: read all about the three new top models here

Samsung has just announced its new flagship devices in San Francisco during the Unpacked event: the Samsung Galaxy S20 series. This year it is three models: the S20, S20+ and the S20 Ultra.

The first thing that stands out about the devices is that the camera module has received a major upgrade. The top model, the S20 Ultra, has a 108-megapixel camera and a periscopic telephoto lens for optical zooming. All models get a screen that can display a refresh rate of 120Hz. At the back of the Galaxy S20+ and the S20 Ultra there are four cameras, with the S20 there are three.

That fourth camera on the more expensive models is the so-called DepthVision camera, a sensor to measure depth. All models have an ultra-wide angle camera, a regular camera and a telephoto lens camera.

The S20 models have all three OLED screens, rounded screen edges and a resolution of up to 3200×1440 pixels. At that resolution, the refresh rate is 60Hz, but if users set the resolution to 2400×1080 pixels, then it is possible to increase the refresh rate to 120Hz.
The minimum storage capacity is 128GB and the S20+ and S20 Ultra come in versions with up to 512GB of storage.
Not every phone in the new series gets support for 5G. The Galaxy S20 will perform without 5G support and a more expensive variant with 5G modem. The S20+ and S20 Ultra are only available in 5G version.
The housing of the S20 models is water resistant. The top model has a 5000mAh battery, is 8.8mm thick and weighs 220 grams. The S20+ and S20 are a millimetre thinner and weigh 186 and 163 grams respectively. The battery capacity of these models is 4500 and 4000mAh. All models support wireless fast charging. The S20 models only have a USB-C connection. The headphone jack that was still present at the S10 series has been omitted. The colored models have a colored pattern on the back of the devices.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 devices will be delivered from March 13. The cheapest S20 without 5G costs 899 euros. There will be one S20+ version for 1099 euros and the Galaxy S20 Ultra costs at least 1349 euros. On this site you will soon be able to read extensive previews of the devices.
